APPLYING FOR COURSES 2003
Early June: Each paid-up member receives, by post, a copy of the new timetable, a description of courses and a course application form. Please keep these for future reference. In fairness to new members and to other members wishing to try different courses, places on all courses must be requested on an annual basis.
By July 1st : Members return the completed application form, listing their requested courses in choice priority order 1 to 5. If a course is over-subscribed there may be a waiting list. New members joining later in the year will be allocated places on requested courses where there are vacancies.
August: Members are informed by post of the code numbers of the courses on which they have obtained a place. No replacement timetables or course descriptions can be supplied. If a member no longer wishes to join a course, they should notify the Course Organiser immediately, so that the place can be re-allocated.
September-October: Salisbury, Sarum and Spire U3As exchange details of under-subscribed courses and these are advertised on notice-boards at Coffee Mornings. Requests for a place on these should be made directly to the group leader concerned.
These are the rules. In practice, most members are able to join most of the groups they apply for, happy groups are created and many friends made.

Aurevoir Caroline
A sad day at the Deaf Centre! Caroline Bradfield, our Watercolour tutor, is hanging up her brushes for a well-deserved retirement.
Caroline has been a brilliant tutor for many years, even before becoming a member of U3A, and has given encouragement to all at whatever level. We shall miss her patience and friendly criticism and we wish her well.
Thank you Caroline!

OUTINGS and ACTIVITIES
Organised by Sarum's Clare Edwards
Wednesday 18 June Conservation Visit to Porton Down, if Dstl work commitments allow.
An opportunity has arisen for a group from U3As to visit Porton Down in the company of their Conservation Officer, Stuart Corbett, and members of the Porton Down Conservation Group. The majority of the visit will be spent walking on the Ranges for about 2 hours to see the special flora and fauna. There are no rest areas or shelters on the Range so participants must be prepared for a walk in all weather conditions. Strong shoes or walking boots are strongly recommended.
For security purposes, names, dates of birth, and car registration numbers (if used) are required but treated in strict confidence.
Meet at the Conservation Museum at the Five Ways Car park, Dstl Porton Down, before 6pm.
Book before 23 May with Clare. (She will be away until 18 April.) 30 places only.
