Each member of the group selects their own subject having been given some guidance such as the following example:
'The day in the life of a pair of high heel shoes.' This can include pictures of the shoes -·On a rack in a wardrobe
·On the floor as they lie ready for the feet
·With the feet inside
·Walking
·Dirty, wet, muddy etc.
·Cleaning
·In a vehicle
·Kicked off under a table
·By the bath or shower or bed.
Some ideas we received:
The ingenuity of our students amazed us, as did the lengths to which they were willing to go to get the pictures.
E.g. From buying an egg in the market and carrying it home, to using it to make a cake, bake and serve it, eat it and show the shells acting as a slug deterrent in the garden.
Another was a letter. After writing a letter and going to the post, there followed the postman delivering the reply, with an envelope, complete with a change of writing and the appropriate franking. This is possibly stretching the limits of our postal service in a day!
An inanimate subject proved more productive than, for example a cat or dog day.Project exercised the following skills of photography -
- Composition.
- Using available light or flash.
- Setting up a still life.
- Getting in close.
- Correct use of lenses and tripods.
- Planning a sequence.
- Ingenuity
- Presentation
