The monthly Coffee Morning of Sarum U3A was held in its usual venue of St Francis Church Hall on Wednesday 21 December.

The Chairman wished everyone A Happy Christmas and a successful New Year.
He also welcomed any new members.

Members were asked to be sure to buy their tickets for the New Year’s Party.

The U3A’s Health Care research Group will meet on 17 February.

The U3A Choir collected £220 for the homeless at their Carol Singing in the Maltings.

Ena Baldock introduced our speaker Mr Rex Sawyer, who gave us a talk entitled entitled “Further Tales of the Nadder Valley”.
With the help of some excellent slides he took us back in time. It was hard to realise that the road we saw in his slides was the A30. Every village along the Nadder had its tale to tell. Some villages have all but disappeared, like Grovely, or have changed, but some like Anstey are still attractive Nadder villages. Although it is tempting to look back to the past and its slower pace, we would also have to put up with the mud and dust on the roads and the isolation of so many places in the Nadder valley.

January’s meeting is the New Year’s Party and the next Coffee Morning is on 15 February when the speaker will be Ann Seviour who will speak on “The Ecology of the New Forest”.
