Sarum U3A
Newsletter December 2004
Welcome to new members:
Gemana Browning. Merryl Drake
From the Chairman:
It was pleasing to see so many of you, about 120, last month and I hope
you enjoyed our 10th
Anniversary celebration and Kathy Quinn's interesting and amusing talk.
My thanks to all those who contributed to the success of the morning,
particularly Mary Cole, who arranged for the food and her team of
helpers, Alan Wood and the art group who produced the banner and
Patricia Blake, who iced the cake so imaginatively.
Now Christmas and the New Year lie ahead of us, a time for families to
get together and perhaps also to look ahead and even make new
resolutions. These are normally made to be broken, as they say; but may
I suggest one or two-or three- to keep in mind:-
To let your group leader know in advance if you are going to be absent
from a meeting, or, indeed are unable to continue with the group.
To make your small financial contribution (30p) at each meeting.
To send me stamped addressed envelopes regularly, if you receive the
monthly Newsletter by post.
My very best wishes to you all for Christmas and a healthy and happy
New Year.

www.cheapestcalls.co.uk is definitely worth a serious look, and you don't
have to register to use it. At a time when www.call18866.co.uk
have recently increased their charge to Australia from 1p/min to 2p/m,
"cheapestcalls" are 1p/min (Thank you Mike Williams - U3A Hastings and
Rother).

Important Notice
A Konica camera was left at the October Coffee Morning. It has not yet
been claimed. Please phone 322018 to recover it.
Finally, A
Poem to Ponder submitted by our Chairman.
Take a bucket
and fill it with water,
Put both hands
in up to the wrist,
Take them out
and the hole that remains,
Is the measure
of how you'll be missed.
You may splash
all you like when you enter,
You may stir up
the water galore,
But wait! In a
minute,
It looks just
the same as before.
The moral of
this is quite simple:
Do the best that
you can,
Be proud of
yourself, but remember,
There is no
indispensable man.
