Coffee Mornings

Please note that coffee is served from 10.00am

Wednesday 19 September at 10.30am
Tara Economakis will be speaking about Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. According to her website, the range of conditions/problems that hypnotherapy can address and help is wide, including: confidence and personal development; habit control; health issues, and procedural problems; stress, anxiety and phobias. Something for everyone, then!

Wednesday 17 October at 10.30am
Direct from her acclaimed appearance at Broad Chalke WI last year, Linda Turner’s talk is entitled Yes, she was a cobbler. She describes how as a lively teenager she left school at 14 years 11 months and worked with her father as a shoe repairer in the days when you had shoes repaired more often than throwing them away. She eventually took over the business and experienced difficulties and triumphs in a fascinating career lasting (!) up to her retirement.

2013 U3A Diaries and Calendars
U3A Diaries and Calendars  will be available for collection at the Notice Board at the September Coffee Morning.

Chip and Signature Cards

Some people can struggle to use a chip and PIN card for various reasons. A chip and signature card may be an alternative that can make paying by card possible. The Payments Council has produced a leaflet which has been sent to us by the Third Age Trust and will be available for members’ perusal at the Notice Board at future Coffee Mornings.

Personal Statement

Cancellation of Sarum U3A Computer Group 2012/2013
It is with much regret that I will not be able to run the computer group for the coming year.
After much discussion Patricia and I have decided that we will move away from Salisbury in order to be near our new and growing family, and as a result our house is now for sale.
When we actually move is outside our control but it could be any time onwards from November, so I feel it is better to cancel the group now, before we start, rather than have the uncertainty of cutting it short with little notice at some indeterminate time in the near future.

If anyone wishes to take over the group please contact me or Linda for more information

However, all is not lost. Nigel Parry of Salisbury U3A is running a computer group for absolute beginners and I understand there are some vacancies. This is a group covering the basics of computing; the keyboard and mouse; simple word processing; spreadsheets; formatting, and email. It will meet fortnightly at Nigel’s house in West Grimstead on Wednesdays at 9.30am starting on September 19th for two terms. Linda Farrow is the contact if you wish to join this group.
