When a member changes postal address, telephone number or e-mail address, it is important that you let me know as soon as possible
Next month I will be starting the membership renewal process, ready for the January deadline, by sending out the renewal form.
Because the requirement to send an envelope for the return of the Membership Card caused so many problems last time, I think that it will be better that all cards should be collected personally from me at Coffee Mornings. I would welcome your opinion.

Dear Friends
As there is reduced parking at St Francis Church currently, I thought it might be worth bringing to members’ attention a service that not all may be aware of from COMTRANS (Community Transport for South Wiltshire), a registered charity supported by Wiltshire Council. They supply a range of transport services in the area; and one that might suit people coming to Coffee Mornings, and who have difficulty using public transport, is the community car scheme. The cost is 48p per mile from passenger’s home to destination; but if people share then the cost is divided, making it even more economical.
COMTRANS is also looking for volunteer drivers, who are paid 46p per mile.
For further information contact Mrs N Coldridge on 01722 410123 .
With best wishes
Gordon Pardy
Dr Jean Watkins (alias Mrs Jean MacMillan) will talk on “My Ecuadorian Adventure”. Having worked most of her life as a GP, first in London and more recently in Bournemouth, Jean has had the good fortune to be able to travel widely. As well as following the tourist tracks, the interest of these trips was greatly increased by the opportunity to look at some aspects of Health Care in the different countries, and she has thus gained a greater insight into the lives of the people within them. Not actually seeking adventure, this trip turned out to be a little more exciting than Jean would have chosen and the memory is still very much in her mind.
Wednesday 19 October at 10.00 am

Croquet
In the morning of 9 August 2011, 8 members of the Sarum U3A Croquet Group (5 from Sarum, 2 from Spire and 1 from Salisbury) enjoyed several games of Golf Croquet with 5 members of the Hamptworth Croquet section at the Hamptworth Golf & Country Club. We played on the same lawns as had been used for the recent Association Croquet match between Great Britain and the USA. Everyone enjoyed trying out different mallets on a flatter surface and a number of matches went to the extra playoff hoop. Afterwards everyone enjoyed drinks and sandwiches in the bar.

Your Groups for 2011-2012
Now is the time to contact your group leaders to check starting dates and times. It is a good idea to put the dates and times of meetings in your diary so that they become fixtures.
Attached to the Newsletter is a document entitled “Information for Potential Group Leaders”. I hope this will be of interest to everyone.
Best wishes

By the time you receive this newsletter, we shall be looking forward to our Visit to the Royal Mews and Buckingham Palace on 29 September. We still have a few places left so, if you are booked on this Visit and would like to bring a friend, then please call Chris and we’ll see what we can do.
Just a reminder: the Palace welcome non-commercial photography and filming in the Royal Mews and in the Palace garden – however, these are not permitted inside the State Rooms.
As we are leaving very early in the morning of the 29th, I suggest you “bring your breakfast” – or at least part of it! (Bacon and eggs are not permitted!)
At this moment in time I have not been able to confirm our position with parking at the Park & Ride, so please come and see me at our meeting after the Speaker at the September Coffee Morning, when I will have more details. Those who do not attend are welcome to phone me after the meeting.
