Welcome to New Members

Pauline Castellano and Roger Trubshaw

There is now a waiting list for membership!

From The Chairman
I have recently attended a Service of Thanksgiving at the Cathedral in aid of Cancer Research UK.  About 800 people were there, including the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire together with Mayors and other Dignitaries from the County.  Following the service, over a cup of tea, I noticed some members of Sarum U3A.  It made me think of the wide-ranging interests our members have.  We attend Groups and help run our U3A, we also serve on many committees, act as guides in the Cathedral, as stewards at Mompesson House, help in education, serve in Charity shops and local council involvement.  The list is endless, it is certainly true if you want something done you should ask a busy person. Our Groups have started again and I hope you will enjoy whatever you have signed up for.  To get the full benefit, it is important that you attend as regularly as possible.  Should you, unfortunately, have to leave a group, please contact Jean Lunnon immediately, so that she can perhaps allocate your place to another member, as some of the Groups have waiting lists.
Josephine Hawkins
Sound System

In 2001.

Iain Duncan Smith became Leader of the Conservative Party – he lasted 2 years.

Sven Goran Eriksson became Manager of the England Football team – he lasted 5 years.

John Winders took charge of the Sarum U3A Sound System – after over 5 years, it is time for him to be replaced.

John would welcome one or two people to join him in running the system from, say, October to the end of the year when they would take it over. You do not need a degree in Electronics – only a reasonable competence in putting plugs into sockets!

Please ring him on 01722 335967.

Gift Aid Declaration
Brian Griffiths has had an excellent response to his request for Gift Aid Declaration forms.  If you have not yet returned your form to Bryan, please do so by the end of September.
2007 Diaries
If you have ordered a 2007 U3A Diary from Clare Edwards it will be available at the September Coffee Morning.  Clare will be bringing unclaimed diaries to each Coffee Morning until the end of the year.
