From the Chairman

Dear Friends
Just a reminder that tickets for 16 September joint U3A “CRAFTY LUNCH” will be on sale at the August Coffee Morning. Alternatively, you can phone me at home on 01722 504295 and I will be able to provide tickets.
The committee that runs St Francis Hall is looking to carry out a programme of refurbishment. They wish to prioritise the works and are asking for input from organisations who use it such as ours. So, if there is any way that you think the facilities could be improved, please come and talk to me at the end of the August Coffee Morning or me.

I look forward to hearing from you.

The U3A national office (The Third Age Trust) has sent out the following request:

“This is an appeal to the Members of U3A to fill a couple of vacancies that are coming up in the organisation. The most important is that of the Treasurer.  Our current Treasurer will be absent from mid-August until late September and we desperately need someone to help as a back-up Treasurer during her absence.  She has also informed us that she is unlikely to nominate as the Treasurer for next year (the AGM is in October) so ideally anyone prepared to “fill-in” during her absence would also be prepared to take over after the AGM.
“The editor of the Online newsletter, Mouse Trails, is also having to stand down and so we are seeking someone to take over this task.  Mouse Trails is produced 4 times a year and although currently only put onto the Members’ Area for viewing, ideally could also be emailed to all our members.  Any new Newsletter Editor will, of course, be able to put their own ‘personality’ into the production.”

If anyone would like further information on either of these exciting opportunities, please let me know.
With best wishes
Gordon Pardy
