This is a joint event with the purpose of encouraging contact between members of our Salisbury U3As.
The date is confirmed for Thursday 3 September at 12 noon at Alderbury Village Hall, and is open to all members of Salisbury, Sarum and Spire U3As. Tickets will cost £10 for which you will get hog fresh roasted on site with salads and a roll, a choice of desserts and a free glass of wine. The bar will be open from 12 noon to 2.30 pm serving a range of beers, wines and spirits.
The Hall is on the old Southampton Road in Alderbury village at the junction with Rectory Road. The postcode for your satnav is SP5 3AD. Parking at the Hall is limited but there is more space in Rectory Road and Firs Road opposite. Parking in the main road is not recommended to avoid obstruction to through traffic. Buses 34, 36 and X7 stop at the Hall. If the weather is fine, there is plenty of space outdoors on the village playing field. You might wish to bring your own seat if you wish to sit outside. Tickets are limited and the allocation for Sarum U3A is 55. If you would like tickets, please put your name and number required on the list that will be in St Francis Hall at our next monthly meeting on 17 June. If you cannot attend the meeting, then you could ask a friend to add your name for you. Should it be over-subscribed, there will be a draw and tickets will be available at the 15 July meeting.
Tickets must be paid for in full before 10 August by cash or cheque (payable to Salisbury U3A). Any left unsold will be offered to Salisbury and Spire U3As (and vice versa).
Neil Russell You have probably all heard the saying about ‘spoiling the ship for a ha’porth of tar’. I hope that does not happen to our U3A but it will if nobody comes forward to replace Bob Bradshaw, our Newsletter Editor, or Mary Cole, our Food Buyer (if I may use that term) for our parties. There must be someone out there so please come forward and offer to do your bit. Remember, we only get out of our U3A what we put in. If we put nothing in, then nothing happens and we all suffer the consequences.
