| By now you will have received the list of Groups for 2007/2008. Having read mine, I
am finding great difficulty in making my choices. It is very pleasing to see how many new Groups
there are this year. Once again thank you to all the leaders. Sometime in the not too distant future, the new members will receive an invitation from me to a coffee morning. Please do try and come. It is a good opportunity to meet one or two of the Committee and to get to know each other. There are always so many people at the monthly coffee mornings that I have difficulty finding you all. There have been a lot of new members this year and it will take a while to invite you all. Although most Groups have ended for the summer, please remember to keep an eye on the Newsletter as you will discover some things still happening. There are croquet, days out on the local buses with George and Olive Cork and garden visits. I hope you are all enjoying the lovely weather. Josephine |

The walk will start from “The Fox and Goose” at Coombe Bissett at 10.00am and will

A guided tour of LULWORTH CASTLE & CHAPEL near Wareham, Dorset including a JOUSTING SHOW! Described
as a stunning 17th century castle surrounded by extensive parkland. Built as a Hunting Lodge in 1608
the castle has played host to seven monarchs. You will see the St. Mary's Roman Catholic Chapel built
in the post reformation period. Those who wish may take a picnic. Space will be reserved in the Stable
Cafe for others taking a light lunch. Some floors in the castle are uneven — take care! Depart
Coach Park, Castle Street 9.15 a.m. and TESCO'S, Southampton Road 9.30 a.m. We shall return from Lulworth
at 4 p.m. Cost: £14.50 to include coach and driver gratuity, entry to Castle, Chapel, park and

A visit to OXFORD with a guided walking tour. After a break for lunch we shall be boarding Salter's
boat for a 2 hour river cruise to ABINGDON where we shall join our coach for the return journey to
Salisbury. Full details and bookings at the July meeting.

A visit to the PLAYHOUSE THEATRE in Salisbury for a matinee performance of NORTHANGER ABBEY by Jane
Austen. Tim Luscombe's perfectly tuned and skilful adaption of Jane Austen's novel will transport you
back to times past. We have secured seats for the matinee performance commencing at 2.30 p.m. Cost: £10.00.
Bookings open NOW! Tickets will be available at the September meeting or in the foyer from 2 p.m. on
the day of the performance.
Opera News
We have secured seats for two operas featured in the Welsh National Opera's programme for 2007/8 at the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton. Details as follows:

VERDI's '11 Trovatore' with Dennis O'Neill playing the part of Manrico. Described as an
opera of supreme melodic quality, vigorously paced with an abundance of arias and vocal ensembles.
A story of blood brothers, separated at birth who become deadly rivals in love and war.
Centre Stall seats with surtitle views are confirmed. The performance commences at 7.15 p.m. Running
time is approximately 3 hrs. Sung in Italian.

TCHAIKOVSKY's 'Eugene Onegin'. Described as an opera full of passion, drama and excitement. Based on
a poem by Pushkin. A story of lost love amidst the glittering grandeur and emotions of Imperial Russian
Society.
Centre Stall seats with surtitle views have been confirmed. Performance commences at 7.00 p.m. Running time approximately 3 hrs. 15 mins. Sung in Russian.
Three Pick-up points are offered for each opera. Depart opposite Italianate Church, West Street, WILTON at 5.25 p.m. COACH PARK, Castle Street 5.45 p.m. TESCO's, Southampton Road 6.00 p.m. (note earlier departure times!). Return from Southampton approximately 10.30 p.m. Cost: £32.75 to include ticket, coach and driver gratuity. Non Members accompanied by a member add £ 1.00.
