Our 12th Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 15th March starting at 10.30am. My 2-year term of office as Chairman will then end and elections will be necessary for a new Chairman and Committee. The current committee is as follows: Josephine Hawkins – Secretary Phyll Mullins – Membership Secretary Bryan Griffiths – Treasurer Jean Lunnon – Groups Organizer Jenny Mawer – Publicity Officer & Minute Secretary Ena Baldock – Speaker Secretary Lydia Dungate – Editor Newsletter Claire Edwards - Registry Alan Reeve – Deputy Newsletter Editor All the members of the Committee are eligible and willing to stand for re-election; and the following nominations have been received to date: - Chairman - Josephine Hawkins Secretary - Claire Edwards Committee – Barbara Prince Further nominations, duly seconded and with the agreement of the nominee, should be sent to Josephine Hawkins at 42 St Ann Place, Salisbury, SP1 2SU to arrive no later than 7 days before the Annual General Meeting. Finally, a last request for payment of subscriptions. I am glad to say that only about 30 members have not renewed their subscription. Will they please get in touch with Phyll Mullins without delay to inform her of their intentions. After the end of February it will be assumed that their membership has lapsed. |
AGM & EXHIBITION
On Wednesday 15 March we shall combine the AGM, as usual, with an exhibition about the activities of our groups and the talents of individual members. Please bring along exhibition material or posters and set up your table or board by 10.00 a.m. The morning will conclude with lunch for Group Leaders.
IDEAS FOR NEW GROUPS
2006-2007
The planning for next season’s programme will soon be underway. If you are wondering why we don’t have a group on train spotting or philosophy or whatever, please think seriously about offering to coordinate one. The emphasis is on shared learning, shared material, even shared venues, and groups can be monthly, fortnightly, weekly, run for one, two or three terms and involve as few as 6 people. Remember, we depend entirely on volunteers, so, no volunteers means no groups!

Café Scientifique, a Forum for debating science issues at Salisbury Arts Centre.
Meetings are free and open to all. Doors open at 7.00pm when the bar and Café will be open for light refreshments before the event which starts at 7.30pm

OUTINGS and ACTIVITIES
BRISTOL celebrates the 200th anniversary of Brunel’s birth. A blue badge guide will give a city tour including the Merchant's Church of St. Mary Redcliffe and the Clifton Suspension Bridge. After lunch there is a visit to Brunel's famous ship, SS Great Britain. Lunch and refreshment facilities will be available.
Coach departs Tesco's Southampton Road at 8 a.m. Coach Park Castle Street at 8.15 a.m. Cost including guided coach tour, entrance to SS Great Britain with audio guide and driver gratuity £17.50.
