New Year Greetings and I hope that 2006 will bring you further pleasure and fulfillment in your U3A contacts and activities. I am reminded by our annual return to the National Office that Sarum was officially affiliated to the University of the Third Age on 17th November 1994, so we are now well into out 12th year. Thanks to all who have helped along the way. In November I mentioned the entries of Alan Wood's art groups for the National Poster Competition. Sadly, they were not successful; well done nonetheless! I must, however, just mention the caption on Alan's entry: “It takes three years to earn a degree at most British Universities “It takes a working lifetime to qualify for admission to the University of the Third Age”. Finally, a brief mention regarding subscriptions, which are coming in well. It would be very helpful if all un-paid subscriptions could be paid before the end of our financial year, 31st January. Thank you. |

BRISTOL celebrate’s the 200th anniversary of Brunel's birth. A blue badge guide will give a city tour including the Merchant's Church of St. Mary Redcliffe and the Clifton Suspension Bridge. After lunch there is a visit to Brunel's famous ship, SS Great Britain. Lunch and refreshment facilities will be available.
Coach departs Tesco's Southampton Road at 8 a.m. Coach Park Castle Street at 8.15 a.m. Cost including guided coach tour, entrance to SS Great Britain with audio guide and driver gratuity £17.50.
