FROM THE CHAIRMAN
Josephine Hawkins
I must start by introducing myself. We came to live in Salisbury four years ago, although I have known Salisbury all my life, having been brought up in Southampton and the New Forest. I went to school in Southampton and trained as a Radiographer at the South Hants Hospital. On retirement we went to live in Ringwood. So I am fairly local and remember the market in Salisbury when I was growing up.
I have lived a very mobile life. First working in Bath and then after marriage moving often, courtesy of the RAF, and, later on the Church of England. We lived in the north of England, Cornwall, East Anglia, and for two and a half years in Singapore. In each place I have taken part in local activities, especially the W.I. Through them I attended classes in a variety of subjects. But my main interests have been reading, various crafts, calligraphy, crochet and embroidery. Amongst others, I also enjoy walking.
I have already met many of you during the last four years but know that some of you will say, “Who’s she?” So please come and introduce yourselves. I must admit that while I remember faces, names are a different matter, so bear with me. I look forward to this new U3A year and will be studying the list of groups when it comes out in May, as I hope will all of you.
