All members of the committee are eligible for re-election and are willing to stand, with the exception of John Winders. John has served on the Committee for 4 years now, and feels it is time for him to stand down. I am very grateful to him for his valuable contribution to our monthly meetings, arranging the microphones for speakers and the sound system in general, and I am particularly glad that he will continue to do this for us.
Nominations will be required for the Committee for the coming year and these should be sent to me, please, duly seconded, and with the approval of the nominee, to arrive no later than 7 days before the Annual General Meeting.
About 100 members have not yet renewed their subscriptions (£11 single, £21 double). It would be appreciated if you would do this either at the February meeting, or by post to me before the end of the month, or let me know if you do not wish to renew. (Tel.332018)
Congratulations to the Spire Archaeology Group organised by Anne Boutell on receiving a £3000 Lottery Award, about which you will probably have read in the local press.

GROUPS & TALENTS DAY/AGM

16 March
We hope that once again groups will provide exhibition material or a poster about their activities. Individuals may also bring a display based on their own talent or hobby. Each exhibitor is responsible for setting up a table or board by about 10 a.m. The morning will conclude with a party for Group Leaders.

GROUPS 2005-2006

Why don’t you start up a small group on ………? The possibilities are almost limitless and the emphasis is on SHARED LEARNING – and fun! The planning process for next season’s groups programme will soon be underway. We depend entirely on volunteer group leaders from within our U3A, so all members are encouraged to think about coordinating a new group on a subject that interests them. There is plenty of advice and support available, and preparation and venues can be shared. Expertise is not required, just enthusiasm. Contact the Groups Organiser on 335909 to discuss ideas.
