HOW THE SPIRE U3A OPERATES |
The SPIRE U3A
meets regularly on the second Monday of each month at Harnham Memorial
Hall. This meeting is the main point of communication with the
membership. It opens with coffee at around 10.15 am, followed by news
of activities and a
talk by an invited speaker. SPIRE U3A's own Newsletter, published every
two
months, is distributed at these meetings. Members pay an attendance fee
of 50p at each meeting to help defray the cost of the hall hire, coffee
etc.. Whenever possible groups meet in their own homes and members are
asked to
give their host/hostess 50p at each session to help meet any
out-of-pocket expenses incurred. Where it is necessary to hire
accommodation the cost is
shared between participants. This also applies when sharing a car for
group
activities. By avoiding mailing costs to communicate with members the
annual
subscription has been kept to just £7.50, but, as always, this is
likely
to increase to keep pace with increasing costs. If you wish to become a
member please find the contact details of the Membership Secretary in
the
U3A folder in the Reference Library in Salisbury or contact her by telephone (see Committee
page). |
