Chris Dickson announced that the tutors lunch is on 24th May, not 13th April as given on the invitation reply slip.

The outing to the Houses of Parliament and the Churchill War Museum on 16th May is almost full. On 21st June we go to Windsor Castle and St George’s Chapel, and on 19th July to Waddesdon Manor.

The next four monthly talks are as follows:-

April: The great storm of 1997.

May: Presentation by tutors.

June: Ruanda.

July: Bill Bache on the Angela Cannings case.

After the announcements, Peter Bartholomew, of National Legal Services, talked about wills, inheritance tax, and care home fees. He stressed the necessity of making a will and how to avoid inheritance tax. 70 - 75% of people do not have a valid will. The 25% who have probably made it years ago, and it must be reviewed regularly. His best advice was to consult a financial adviser.
