A visit to WINCHESTER CITY MILL, a working Flour Mill for a guided tour and a short talk on the history of this medieval watermill restored to full working order. You will witness the turning of the giant waterwheel and machinery and enjoy a milling demonstration. After a break for lunch at leisure in Winchester we shall take a short drive to the INTECH Science Centre and the UK's largest Planetarium using digital technology to project shows on to a giant 15 metre dome screen giving an effect of 'floating through space'.  We shall experience the Science Centre with 100 interactive exhibits followed by an interactive exhibition about DNA. Here you can assist in solving a crime and appreciate the role of DNA in health care.  We shall complete our visit with tea and cake in the cafe before returning home.  Cost: £19.50 (N.T. members £16.00) to include coach transport, driver gratuity, all entry fees and tea and cake. We return to the MAYFLOWER THEATRE for a WNO performance of  Verdi's 'LA TRAVIATA.' Decadence, romance and devotion in 19th century Paris. Described as 'a deeply moving opera remaining as haunting and touching as ever'. We have centre stall seats with surtitle views. To be sung in Italian. The performance starts at 7.15 pm. Running time approximately 2 hrs 40 mins. Cost: £38.50.  Depart Wilton (W) opposite Italianate Church 5.45 pm and Millstream Coach Park, Castle Street (S) 6.00 pm.  Return from Southampton approximately 10.15 pm. BOOKING NOW! To celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee a matinee performance of great English music will be performed at  LONDON'S ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL. The exciting programme commences with Walton's Crown Imperial March first performed at the coronation of King George VI in 1937and the coronation of HM Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. This will be followed by Elgar's Cello Concerto and Holst's ever popular Planets Suite. This concert will undoubtably be a 'sell out'. Centre stall seats are reserved with an early booking deadline so bookings will be accepted  NOW or by post. The concert will be performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra with Sir Colin Davis conducting. The concert starts at 3 pm so ample time is allowed for your own arrangements and lunch. Cost £29.50 to include coach travel, driver gratuity and centre stalls seat. On arrival park your car and join the coach outside Reception Office. The Office will be unattended. Security cameras in operation.

PAYMENTS FOR OUTINGS.  Cheques payable to 'Salisbury U3A'.  No cash.  Separate cheques for each outing.  Please show Membership card when booking.   All options must be confirmed within seven days.

CANCELLATIONS/REFUNDS: Full refund if cancelled within 1 month of Booking Start Date. Thereafter bookings subject to re-sale and refund less £1.00 administration charge.  The OUTINGS DESK is open for bookings from 10 am at monthly meetings.  Outings restricted to Members Only!  

OUTINGS NEWS by mail.  If you do not come to meetings regularly and would like Outings News mailed to you on a monthly basis, send stamped addressed envelope(s) to John Ewington and this will be done.  Some Sarum and Spire members find this method particularly useful.

NATIONAL TRUST GROUP MEMBERSHIP.  National Trust members visiting an NT property pay the coach fare only, but must bring their NT membership card with them

CAR SHARE.  Some members have asked if a lift can be offered to and from the coach departure point.  Any members able to offer this facility and those requiring a lift please sign the list on the Outings Desk.  A contribution (minimum £1 per person) to assist with fuel and other costs is suggested.
